LifePics launches online photo service for Roberts Imaging

LifePics, Boulder, Colo., and Roberts Imaging, Indianapolis, Ind., announced a new online photo service for Roberts Imaging customers. The new service, provided by LifePics, allows Roberts Imaging customers to order prints and photo products online and pick up the orders at a Roberts Imaging location later that day, or have the orders shipped to a home or office. Seiko Epson posts group operating profit

Seiko Epson Corp. posted a group operating profit in the April-June quarter for the first time in two years, thanks to a turnaround in demand for printers and electronic parts, according to JPEA Photo Electro News. The company earlier had anticipated an operating loss for the quarter, but it posted 10.73 billion yen (US$126.3 million) in operating profit, compared with a loss of 12.4 billion yen (US$140.9 million) a year ago. Total sales rose 12.1 percent year-on-year to 239.2 billion yen (US$2.8 billion). PMA reports June print volume is level

PMA – The Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations reports the amount of digital printing remained flat overall for the month of June. According to PMA Marketing Research, the volume of prints made at instant kiosks grew 36 percent. Overall, retail prints comprise more than 56 percent of print volume. Online ordering fell 7 percent and home printing fell by 7 percent in June. The opening of more than 800 new drugstores in 2009 seems to be the main driver behind the continuous growth in the retail channel share and decline in the online channel share, according to PMA Marketing Research.
