YouTube may enter movie rental business
Bloomberg reports Google Inc.’s YouTube, San Bruno, Calif., the most- visited video Web site, is talking to Hollywood studios Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lions Gate Entertainment in preparation to start an online movie rental service for new releases.
YouTube, which gets the bulk of its videos from users, agreed last month to carry excerpts from Time Warner Inc.’s CNN, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, adding to the vault of older films and advertiser-supported clips from television programs, reports Bloomberg.
