Accusoft Pegasus releases ScanFix Xpress v6, ImageGear Version 17 SDKs

ScanFix Xpress Version 6 SDK enhances image quality, prepares images for further processing such as OCR, improves content recognition accuracy, and creates smaller compressed files, says Accusoft Pegasus of Tampa, Fla.

The new version of the imaging software adds color and grayscale document image cleanup to the previous black/white functionality.

“Most production scanners today provide a color scanning option. While storage has become fairly economical, color images still require considerably more storage space than black and white images,” says the aptly named Rick Scanlan, director of sales engineering at Accusoft Pegasus. “ScanFix Xpress can reduce compressed file sizes and make a significant improvement on OCR, ICR or forms processing activities.”

The ScanFix Xpress SDK allows developers to build applications targeting both 64-bit and 32-bit Windows .NET architectures.

For software developers needing to quickly build image display, annotation, compression and processing into applications, the company is also offering ImageGear Version 17 for .NET and Silverlight SDKs.

New image annotation support for WPF and Silverlight allows “rich viewing experiences with advanced user interface features while promoting document collaboration between users through powerful annotation capabilities,” the company says. “Software engineers use ImageGear to build applications for end users that display, convert, and manipulate over 100 image file types through a common interface, including raster files such as TIFF and JPEG, and vector files including PDF and CAD. The annotation support facilitates enterprise collaboration, and the image processing features improve image display quality and reduce file sizes.”
