The International Imaging Industry Association, Wakefield, Mass., appointed Andrea de Polo of Alinari 24 ORE SpA its new European Coordinator. In this role, reporting to I3A President Lisa Walker, de Polo is responsible for I3A’s outreach activities in Europe. He will work to expand membership, increase awareness of I3A, support existing European members and represent I3A in European standards communities. He is already an active participant in imaging standards efforts, in addition to his position as head of the Digital Imaging Department at Alinari, which is the world’s oldest active photographic archive.
“I am honored that I3A has invited me to further its mission and facilitate its activities in Europe,” says de Polo. “These new responsibilities are very synergistic with my current interests and my experience, and I am very glad to have this opportunity to help guide the mission of I3A and the future of our industry. My I3A role will be a perfect link between American and European cutting-edge news and solutions.”
Andrea de Polo has worked for Alinari since 1994, where he has been involved in a number of projects in areas of imaging, including IPR and content protection, digital rights management, intelligent visual search, pilot user and validation, sustainability and market research, exploitation and dissemination, integration and content sharing across large multilingual networks, and digital libraries. He is also involved in several standards efforts relating to libraries and digital imaging, and he is active with the IPTC Photo Metadata group, the Cepic Picture Agency association, TauVisuall Italian Photo Association, Photo Marketing Association and the Jpeg Italian working group.
