Samsung Electronics will pay Sony $934 million for full ownership of S-LCD, the panel manufacturing joint venture the two companies started in 2004.

Samsung will turn the Korean-based LCD manufacturer into a fully-owned subsidiary. It will continue to provide panels for Sony.

The move comes as Sony is reportedly facing significant losses in its TV business.
