Acer offers affordable HD home theater

Want to see movies, TV, and your own photos at home on a 300-inch screen? With the H6500 home theater projector, Acer is providing a bright, full HD video projector for $900.

The DLP projector offers “exceptional color fidelity even in environments with bright ambient light,” the company says. It can display 24fps 1080p video content from a Blu-ray Disc player via its HDMI interface, “making it the perfect projector for showcasing widescreen movies… and film viewing in the home is close to seeing it in a commercial movie theater.”

The projector provides 2,100 ANSI lumens and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. With color compensation, it can project on any surface, even tinted and painted walls.

It weighs 5.6 pounds, and measures 10.6 by 8.1 by 3.3 inches.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize that $900 would be enough money to compare to a movie theater Paul, but then again I usually go to the dollar movies, so, “there ya go!”  I have really enjoyed my DLP TV though since it is so large and still gives a great picture.  I suppose a projector is the next best step, but that will have to wait a year at least since I just upgraded all of my TVs to HD last year.  I figured if I work for DISH, I should take advantage of more than two hundred HD channels that I could have on every TV, if HD is free for life for customers now.  Now I’m waiting for the 3D to improve on the projectors; I would love to see the dual image technology of the SONY 4K projector come to an affordable product.
