Optics: Two from Tamron

Lens-maker Tamron has two more optical packages for SLR shooters:

The first is the most compact full-size, high-speed telephoto zoom lens, Tamron says, delivering leading-edge image quality. It features vibration compensation and an ultrasonic silent drive.

The SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD will be available in Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts for $1500. Also, it’s new optical design delivers high contrast and high resolution throughout the zoom range, Tamron says, and the  multi-layer coating technology dramatically improves lens performance by reducing flare and ghosting for crisper, clearer images.

The 90mm macro lens features completely redesigned optics, vibration compensation, and an ultrasonic silent drive. The SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD will be available in Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts, for $850.

Two extra low dispersion glasses and one low dispersion element reduce chromatic aberrations, the company says, “yielding sharp images and outstanding resolution.” Also, the new extended bandwidth & angular-dependency coating “delivers a dramatic improvement in antireflection performance-significantly reducing flare and ghosting for clearer, crisper images.”
